Forums: Index General Discussion Is the Pulse Rifle a good gun in-universe? Forumheader-image

I'm not sure I know what you mean. Do you mean good insofar as lore, or good with respect to usefulness and effectiveness in-game? --LBCCCP 01:41, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

I found it pretty good, especially in DS2. It is my favorite weapon, and I have upgraded it completely. Very effective when dealing with large amounts of enemies.--Shade 02:02, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

I think he might have meant if the pulse rifle was an effective weapon within the Dead Space universe; given the effect they have on Isaac (if he hesitates in sight of the riot shield squad in Chapter 13 - I believe he is torn apart), I would certainly consider them efficient. It is an excellent weapon for what it was made to do. Really it is the assault rifle of the Dead Space universe; akin to an AR-15, HK G36 or AKM in the real world. Such weapons are used in conventional combat taking on common enemies such as other humans. Judging from the size of the ammunition used and the description, the Pulse Rifle used by Earthgov fires a smaller caliber round that is used in a small mass driver or some kind of coil gun that uses case less ammunition (much like the other Pulse rifle from the film Aliens). It was not meant to sever through things like the Plasma Cutter, Line Gun or the Ripper which is why it needs a longer burst on target and uses more ammunition to take down the undead Necromorphs.Maphisto86 17:06, April 11, 2012 (UTC)
