Hideki Ishimura was a Japanese astrophysicist. At some point in the 23rd century, he was responsible for inventing the ShockPoint Drive: a small device that allows faster-than-light travel.

The USG Ishimura, the first and the biggest of the planet crackers built in the 25th century, was named after Hideki Ishimura. The Ishimura was one of the first capital ships to utilize the ShockPoint Drive; until its construction, the Drive was rarely used and was only suited to smaller personal vessels.[1][2][3]

Biography[]

Early in his career, a young Hideki was a member of the science team dedicated to studying and deciphering the Black Marker aboard a research facility in the Chicxulub crater in 2214. As a surviving eyewitness to the initial Necromorph outbreak, he was taken ashore for further questioning.[4]

Centuries after the incident, Hideki Ishimura was referred to as a "celebrated astrophysicist" and was credited as having been the inventor of the ShockPoint Drive, indicating that he would go on to have a prestigious scientific career.[1]
