With the advent of large-scale applications of gravitron control, it became clear to the mining consortiums they had a new tool at hand. Shockpoint drives were in their infancy, so extrasolar mining was out of the question -- and the dangers of planetcracking were still unknown. Saturn's moon Titan was selected as the sight of the first "moon harvest", as it was known back then. Saturn was as far from Earth as the consortiums were willing to work and still have reasonable access to timely supplies and support.
